Using Brightspace to Monitor and Improve Student Engagement
Traditionally, student engagement has been assessed by monitoring attendance and/or tracking submission of assessments. The increasing usage of online learning platforms, however, has made a much richer source of data available, that can be leveraged to obtain broader and more timely data on student engagement. This in turn generates significant potential to facilitate and optimise interventions in case of student non-engagement, and so improve student outcomes. In this session, I will outline how we in CHMLS used Intelligent Agents in Brightspace monitor and improve student engagement.
Presenter: Dr Bianca de Haan is a Senior Lecturer (Research & Teaching) in Psychology and the Associate Dean (Student Experience) for CHMLS, with a keen interest in improving the student experience and student outcomes.
