CHMLS Education Hub Mini Symposium: Generative AI
Although acknowledging there are diverse responses to the potential role of AI in education, this presentation will focus on GenAI as a ‘force for good’ and advocate for embracing AI as a tool to potentially help address the ‘awarding gap’ (Fido & Wallace, 2023). The presentation will introduce the ‘I.D.E.As framework’, developed by the presenter to help structure thinking around the use of GenAI tools, as well as a means to curate resources for introducing GenAI tools in learning and teaching. Using this framework, the presentation will explore ways in which Gen AI tools may help towards bridging educational gaps, for example, by providing personalised learning experiences, acting as a ‘dialogic tutor’ (Compton, 2023), and providing instant access to information.
