CHMLS Education Hub Seminar: Creating, supporting and sustaining educators - is there a secret recipe?

Dr Lisa Jackson is the Director of Medical Education at Brunel Medical School.  She has worked over the last 20 years in three new medical schools, two in the United Kingdom, and one in the United Arab Emirates.  She is a practising GP and is especially interested in how to engage and sustain clinical educators in practice.  She also introduced Team Based Learning to enhance clinical clerkship teaching in Family Medicine in Dubai.

Aim

To consider what factors help build and develop a sustainable education programme with a focus on educators working in busy clinical practice

 

Objectives:

  1. Describe some skills needed to attract and develop educators in newly established programmes such as medicine
  2. Discuss factors which may contribute to the successful recruitment and retention of clinical educators
